Ratio simplifier, proportions and project scaling
Use the ratio simplifier for two quantities, or the missing number ratio calculator to solve A : B = C : X. Scale a material quantity with a new project size, or divide a shared cost into two proportional amounts.
How to calculate a ratio
Put comparable quantities in the same units, then write them in order. For 150 : 100, divide both terms by 50 to get 3 : 2. To create equivalent ratios, multiply both terms by the same number: 3 : 2 becomes 12 : 8 when multiplied by 4.
Material & Project Scaling
If 4 identical sections need 2 boxes, 10 sections need 2 × 10 ÷ 4 = 5 boxes. Keep the original quantity's unit and use matching units for both project sizes. Check coverage, waste and packaging separately.
